The iPhone 16 is prepared for high-end usage.

Apple is expected to host the unveiling of the upcoming iPhone and Apple Watch at the “special event” that it invited people to today. It is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT on Monday, September 9, in the Steve Jobs Theater.

As noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who had predicted an event for September 10, that is one day later than anticipated. Tuesdays are when Apple usually hosts its events. That was the case for the iPhone 13 and 15 launches, but Apple decided to change things up and have a Wednesday event for the iPhone 14. Apple enjoys keeping us in suspense.

The invitation from Apple has the phrase “It’s Glowtime” beneath a luminous, multicolored emblem, indicating what to anticipate. That might be a reference to the updated Siri, which appears in iOS 18 and takes up the screen’s edges with a similar color-changing effect.

When Will the iPhone 16 Be Released?

We’re likely to see the iPhones launch the following week, with an event scheduled for September 10. Gurman posted to Twitter this weekend that Apple “scheduled an unusual and mandatory meeting for employees at all Apple retail stores for the evening of Sept. 12 or morning of Sept. 13…ahead of the iPhone 16 release a week later.”

Intelligence from Apple

While Apple Intelligence stole the show at WWDC, rumors have it that it will instead debut as a software upgrade in October with iOS 18.1, rather than with iOS 18, which is scheduled to launch next month. It is anticipated that Siri will include Apple Intelligence characteristics by 2025.

You will require at least an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max when it does arrive. It should be compatible with the entire iPhone 16 family, but we’ll have to wait for Apple to confirm this.

Apple Intelligence to be Powered by New A18 Chip

For Apple Intelligence to function properly, more computing power will be required. According to 9to5Mac, Apple plans to use an A18 processor and at least 8GB of RAM to power the complete iPhone 16 series.

Different chips are used in the iPhone 15 series: the A16 Bionic is used in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, while the A17 Pro is used in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. However, MacRumors notes that back-end code discovered by Nicolás Alvarez indicates that every iPhone 16 model will use the same A-series chip.

New Sizes, Fun Colors, Less Bump, and a Better Camera

Additionally, according to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 16 Pro’s Ultra Wide camera will have a resolution of 48MP instead of 12MP, and the iPhone 16 cameras will have a rounded and redesigned camera bump to perhaps support the capture of spatial video.

When Apple leaker Sonny Dickson posted a photo of the iPhone 16’s back and color scheme, we were able to get a clear look at the device’s new camera bumps.
