For an additional $100 cheaper, the smaller Pixel 9 Pro has the same features as the flagship Pixel 9 Pro XL. Similar to the bigger Pro XL, the 9 Pro’s Gemini AI capabilities are fun to use even though they are a little bare at launch. For those seeking an Android phone that is both tiny and fully capable of artificial intelligence, the Pixel 9 Pro, which retails for $999, is a great option. Though the Editors’ Choice-winning Pixel 9 (beginning at $799) is our recommendation for most people, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is an appealing upgrade if you prefer a larger screen.

A new model in the Pixel lineup is the Pixel 9 Pro. The Pixel 8 Pro XL was essentially the larger, more expensive version of the Pixel 8, while the smaller, less capable Pixel 8 was also available. Between the $799 Pixel 9 and the $1,099 Pixel 9 Pro XL is where the Pixel 9 Pro is positioned. According to Google, it intended to provide a Pixel model with all the features of the top model but in a more compact design.
Google’s design philosophy has become more elegant while maintaining its simplicity. Like the other Pixel 9 models, the Pixel 9 Pro is expertly made with meticulous attention to detail. To better compete with the design of other premium phones, Google has modernized the range by simplifying the camera module from a lengthy bar to a shorter pill shape. Google built these phones to be the best. The phone is available in Rose Quartz, Obsidian (black), Hazel (gray/green), and Porcelain (white). Either way, it looks good. The rounded edges and smooth transition between materials of the frame make the 9 Pro easy to handle and operate.
