ISLAMABAD: In the recently submitted budget 2024–25, which has not yet been approved by parliament, the federal government has proposed several levies on mobile phones, including those on Apple iPhones.
If the measures are approved, the increased tax rate for Apply iPhones in Pakistan will take effect on July 1, 2024.
Finance Bill 2024 states that a typical 18% sales tax will apply to all cellphones under $500, while the government has proposed a 25% ad volume for imported handsets priced beyond $500.
Since Apple does not have an official presence in Pakistan and imports its phones to sell in the local market, the plan will undoubtedly impact the price of Apple iPhones.
Smartphones supplied and manufactured locally will also be subject to an 18% tax.
Prices in Pakistan for These iPhone Models Will Go Up on July 1st
In Pakistan, the iPhone 11, 13, 14, 15, iPhone 15 plus, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 15 Pro are anticipated to see price increases if the plan to raise the sales tax rate to 25% for phones costing more than $500 is granted.
