TCL and Microsoft are collaborating at IFA to improve the upcoming Nxtpaper smartphones. Different from other phone manufacturers on the market, the TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G and 50 Nxtpaper 5G utilize Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI large language models and automatic speech recognition. A new tablet is also planned for the corporation.

Two Nxtpaper Phones Extra

TCL is growing its line of smartphones that utilize its Nxtpaper display technology, building on the statements it made earlier this year at Mobile World Congress. The 50 Pro and 50 Nxtpaper 5G feature upgraded specifications and designs while utilizing the same Nxtpaper 3.0 technology as the 50 XL and 50 XE.

According to TCL, Microsoft’s AI technologies have been tailored to enhance the watching and reading experiences on the 50 Pro and 50. For instance, Text Assist allows users to translate, summarize, edit, and style text by just dragging and dropping it. The writing assistant can assist with list creation, invitation writing, and email composition. Additionally, the Voice Memo feature records, transcribes, and summarizes online and in-person conversations using artificial intelligence. If necessary, it can produce bulleted lists and excerpts. Gemini, Google’s AI, is capable of similar tasks.

TCL claims that because of this specific collaboration with Microsoft, user data will remain on servers and data centers located in the EU rather than traveling to the US or other countries, enhancing privacy.

The 50 Pro and 50 share many hardware features in addition to AI. The Nxtpaper 6.8-inch screens are the same. They have a density of 396 pixels per inch or 2,650 by 1,080 pixels. They have a brightness of 550 nits, a contrast ratio of 1,500 to 1, 2.5D curved glass, and an anti-fingerprint layer. A MediaTek 6300 processor with a Mali G57 GPU and 8GB of RAM powers both devices. The non-Pro is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities, while the Pro has 512GB of storage by default. MicroSD cards up to 2TB are supported by each.

The 5,010mAh batteries in both phones allow for 33W rapid charging. They are compatible with Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and sub-6GHz 5G. The majority of the camera systems are likewise the same. The non-Pro 50 has an 8MP shooter in place of the 32MP selfie camera, while the 108MP main camera, 2MP macro, and 32MP selfie camera are all included on the 50 Pro. With two OS updates, they will receive Android 14 out of the box.

Available in Alps White, Midnight Blue, Moon Gray, Pale Gray, and Rosy Pink, the 50 Pro is priced at €299 and will be accessible soon. It will be available for purchase throughout Latin America and the EU. The 50 will retail for €229 and come in the following colors: Rosy Purple, Moon Gray, Pale Gray, and Midnight Blue. The EU is the exclusive market for the 50.

An additional 11-inch tablet

An update to last year’s Tab 11, this is the TCL Tab 11 Gen 2. It boasts an 85% screen-to-body ratio and an 11-inch NxtVision screen with a 7mm bezel. The panel features a refresh rate of 60Hz, 400 nits of brightness, and 1,920 by 1,200 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The MediaTek Hello G80 CPU powers the tablet, which also uses an 18W charger to charge its 8,000mAh battery. With 256GB of built-in storage and 6GB of RAM, you can store a lot of media on the device. Up to 1TB microSD cards are supported.

A 5MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera are present. It has GPS, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi, and face unlock capabilities built in.

The TCL Tab 11 Gen 2 will retail for €199 and be available in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America.
