In Europe, the Vivo V40 was officially introduced some time ago. However, the initial release was so underwhelming that it had to be reintroduced worldwide. Once again, the Vivo V40 Pro and the vanilla model are on a globe tour. And they’re doing it right this time.

Following a carefully controlled launch in Europe, the V40 has made its way to India, where it has taken the stage next to the Vivo V40 Pro. Prior to entering other markets, both V40s will begin retailing there. These phones are the most similar to what we would consider flagship killers out of all the previous V series models.

Vivo V40 Pro
What distinguishes them is the performing portion. V40 Pro’s Dimensity 9200+ puts it in the top rank. Even though it is only a year old, this engine is still 2023’s flagship model. It’s far superior to the Dimensity 8200 that was previously hidden in the V30 Pro. It offers eight/256 GB, twelve/256 GB, or twelve/512 GB as choices.

Both Vivo 40s have the identical treatment up front. Up front is a 6.78″ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels. More significantly, both phones include a 50 MP selfie camera built into the screen, and they can reach 4500 nits of brightness under certain circumstances.

Three of Sony’s best 50 MP cameras are positioned on a circular island in the V40 Pro. The first is a 50 MP Sony IMX921 sensor; the second is a 50 MP Sony IMX816 telephoto portrait sensor; and the third is a 50 MP ultra-wide camera. The phone’s 5500mAh battery powers it, while an 80W rapid charger provides backup power. The starting price of the V40 Pro is approximately $655 (~PKR 182,000).

Vivo V40
This default choice stays fairly close to the Pro. The most recent Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is included. For the non-Pro V40, this SoC makes perfect sense because it is near to the gaming and processing speeds. 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB combos are included with this one.

The V40 is a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED phone with a maximum brightness of 4500nits. The 1260 x 2800 pixel count and refresh rate are the same at 120 Hz. Get a 50 MP selfie camera with a punch hole and a fingerprint ID embedded into that panel. They are also IP69 waterproof due to a tight seal on the chassis.

On the back were the 50 MP primary and ultra-wide units. It is not equipped with a telephoto. The same 5500mAh cell and up to 80W charging are shared by the V40. And controlling the OS from within is Funtouch OS 14 x Android 14. Vivo V40 is $100 less expensive at $550 (~PKR 153,000), but a flagship SoC and telephoto camera are the trade-off.
